What and where is the "Blue Lagoon"?

Many people ask about the reference to Blue Lagoon. The company, Blue Lagoon Cruises was named after the original Hollywood movie of the same name starring Jean Simonds and Lloyd Bridges.

In addition, Blue Lagoon Cruises had a critical role in the remake of the movie starring Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins. We literally transported and accommodated the production company often assisting in the choice of locations using our vast, collective experience.

The areas depicted in both movies are also broadly the areas where Blue Lagoon Cruises concentrates its cruises today!

We believe that one of the best examples of a "Blue Lagoon" is in fact the island owned and protected by Blue Lagoon Cruises called, Nanuya Lai Lai. Many of our passengers refer to Nanuya Lai Lai as the "Blue Lagoon".

How do you choose your crew members?

Our crew is one of our most prized possessions. They are the people who make a good cruise great! At Blue Lagoon Cruises, we also feel it is critical to ensure that passengers have the opportunity to fully experience the authentic, genuine friendliness and helpfulness of the Fijian people. Therefore, we staff all our vessels with only Fijian crew.

They are skilled at attending to passengers every desire and are always ready for an impromptu singalong.

Other Fijian cruise lines utilize a greater proportion of expatriates. But for us at Blue Lagoon cruises – you haven't seen the real Fiji until you have met these Fijian people!

Why do some cruise lines explore the lower Yasawa islands whereas Blue Lagoon Cruises go all the way to the top of the island group?

It's simple. The type of vessel dictates the capability of the cruise line to explore the further, more deserted regions of the Yasawas Islands.

The entire Blue Lagoon Cruises range has been purpose built for the ocean going conditions of the Fiji waters, particularly around the Yasawa Islands. Whilst, we do not get a great number of rough seas, we believe it is important to have a vessel that safely transports our passengers.

Other cruise lines do not sail as far around the Yasawa islands because their vessel is not as suitable for ocean going conditions.

Unfortunately for passengers who do not sail with Blue Lagoon Cruises it means potentially missing out on some of the best cruising locations in the world!

What is the main difference in a Blue Lagoon Cruise itinerary?

Only Blue Lagoon Cruises own a private island in the Yasawas. It's called Nanuya Lai Lai and has remained unspoiled and one of the best examples of a deserted beach, white sand, and blue azure water in Fiji.

Because Blue Lagoon owns it, passengers can be sure that it remains clean and beautiful. It also allows Blue Lagoon to provide a unique, traditional and fun Fijian experience. On Nanuya Lai Lai, all passengers participate in a traditional Lovo feast (earth oven) as well as a beach party with plenty of dancing and singing. The party keeps going until the last passenger goes to bed!

What is the food like?

Fiji enjoys an enormous selection of fine foods including fresh fruit and fish. However, the key difference on a Blue Lagoon Cruise is the Chef de Cuisine.

Only Blue Lagoon Cruises boasts an award winning chef. Renowned for having international 5 star cuisine of the highest standard.

His attention to quality of ingredients and display also means all meals are not only mouth watering but pleasing to the eye.

Importantly, Our head chef oversees all menus and ingredient selection and personally trains all kitchen staff.

Food is abundant and all inclusive on a Blue Lagoon Cruise.

As our Cruise Directors say "the more the eat, the better you float"!

I prefer a more luxurious standard of accommodation when I am on holiday – can Blue Lagoon cruises deliver that?

The flagship of the Blue Lagoon Cruises fleet is the magnificent Mystique Princess, the only first class vessel of its kind in Fiji.

It boasts a level of luxury unmatched by any other cruise company not only in Fiji but throughout the South Pacific.

Many cruise companies today use words like "luxury and sophistication" but are they? We encourage inquiring holidaymakers to compare the facilities and standard of service of our Mystique Princess to any cruise in Fiji. That's why we call this the Gold Club cruise.

The Mystique Princess was purpose built to the standards and expectations of today's discerning traveler.

But don't just take our word for it – check out our customer comments for a sample of the letters we routinely receive from our past passengers. Or alternatively, if you know one, ask a past passenger what they thought of Blue Lagoon Cruises and the Mystique Princess.

I'm on a budget, can Blue Lagoon offer a cost competitive cruise option?

Blue Lagoon Cruises is conscious of the financial pressures many holiday makers are under.

We believe Blue Lagoon Cruises is in a unique position to be able to cater to most passengers budget requirements. We do this by firstly, providing a range of four vessels whose standards, and therefore costs, vary from an equivalent 3 star all the way up to 5 star.

Secondly, we have several options with regards to cruise duration's. Short cruises are either 3 or 4 days with the longest being 7 days.

All of which affect the final cost of your holiday. Also we are an "All inclusive" option with the table below being an interesting comparison to a conventional hotel

Is your cruise ship as big as the international cruise liners I'm used to?

International cruise liners are big and getting bigger – which is great if you want to cruise with 2,500 or more people.

At Blue Lagoon Cruises we believe that part of the unique charm of the experience is the ability to get to know all the passengers and crew. We ensure this happens by having a fleet of smaller, more intimate cruise vessels.

Our largest vessel, the Mystique Princess, holds a maximum of 72 passengers. By the end of the 4 day cruise everyone has had a chance to meet and get to know each of the other passengers and the crew knows you by name!

All of which adds to the specialness of the experience. Many carry this relationship through for several years, exchanging addresses and meeting up again on subsequent Blue Lagoon Cruises.

It also means that our ships can reach inlets and coral quays not accessible to the bigger boats. So you get to see and experience more of Fiji and the Yasawa Islands.

Other cruise companies in Fiji have larger boats that hold over 100 passengers. We find it difficult to believe that they can provide the intimacy of a vessel with only 50 and an average passenger to crew ratio of three to one to tend to your every need.
